we had the priveledge of having an extra kid today...a very well behaved one, at that! our friend's the collins', little boy, gavin came home with us today after VBS and we got a taste of what 3 kids would be like. kaia and gavin are like 1 month apart and they kinda look like brother & sister, so i kinda got the feeling of what 4 1/2 year old twins would be like. it was fun, but i definitely saw how boys and girls are different. first we went to lunch and then to check out the grand opening of the new toys-r-us and it was so funny. gavin didn't want anything to do with even going near the aisle of a "girl" area. kaia saw a hannah montanna backpack and says, "gavin, do you like this?!" and the look on his face was priceless and then he says, "NO!" with this "like boys can't like that" look on his face.
here they are in a pretty "unisex" aisle... :)
then, we headed home and as we were walking through the garage into the house, kaia runs to her (pink) scooter and hops on it and says, "gavin, wanna try it?" again, he had the same look on his face, like "if it wasn't pink i would". then, we head inside for a snack and a movie and after a few minutes of watching their movie, they seem like they're done watching t.v. and want to go out in the backyard. the first thing they see was 2 bottles of bubbles...1 pink & 1 orange. as soon as kaia asked him as he wanted to blow bubbles, he said, "i want the orange ones". no pink bubbles for him!
then, when they were done outside, they came back in and he said, "do you have any boys toys?" (i forgot...kaia had shown him her room as soon as we had gotten home and he was surrounded with a huge dollhouse, and lots of "girl" things). so, i was scrounging the house for anything "boy"...all i came up with was a Little Einstein rocket and 1 little hotwheel car. it wasn't much, but he seemed relieved to have something "non girly". :) i felt bad that we didn't have a lot for a boy to do around our house, so we decided to go to the park. the park had something for both of them to do...plenty of masculine stuff to do there.
anyways, we had a lot of fun with you gavin...you're welcome here anytime!

gavin is such a good boy. i hope caleb will be as well behaved as he is one day! glad you had a good day with the "twins". :)
btw, thanks for the comment on my blog. it made me a little teary-eyed! love you all.
THANK YOU so much for watching him! He had such a good time. i look forward to repaying the favor sometime! :)
That is hilarious! It's amazing how different boys are. It will be such an adjustment for us to have a boy! We're used to cutesy girl stuff and have pink everything!
