"let's glue her up"

my poor baby, leia, went for her first trip to the ER today (or Urgent Care...what's the difference?). anyways, what happened was this...i asked derek if he could take the girls to the park for an hour or so, so i could get a few (of my many things i NEED to do) things done around the house. it is SO hard for me to get a lot done when the girls are home with me...which is always (no, i'm not complaining). so, off to the park they went with me reminding derek "not to come back until an hour goes by at the least". off to the kitchen i go...dishes, done. on to the laundry room (a.k.a. garage), one load of laundry in, done. mail off some bills and check the mail, done (that one was easy). next, i had just reached under the sink to get the ajax to go clean the bathroom sinks & countertops, which i hate doing...don't know why (which, by the way, is WAY past due) & and the phone rings. i was SO ready to screen it, so i could continue on my "roll" & i look to see that it's derek. the first thing i think is "c'mon, it's only been 30 minutes...i said 1 hour", then i think, "either kaia needs to go pee (since there's no bathroom at the park by our house) or someone's hurt". i answer the phone and he says, "babe, i'm out front, could you come get leia, she fell off the little parallel-to-the-ground-ladder-thing (and she was just sitting down on it) and she hit her head and it's bleeding. so, i'm expecting to just get her & go inside to get the peroxide and a band-aid. i walk out the door and i already see blood all over her face, shirt, pants, her hands & derek's shirt. i proceed to start to go into "nurse-with-adrenaline" mode, and when i blot the blood off, i KNEW that it was deeper than just needing a band-aid.

anyways, to make a kinda long story short...due to the spot her injury was in, the doctor was able to use the derma-bond (a.k.a. skin glue) instead of stitches...as he walked out the door to get the "glue", he looked back & said, "let's glue her up". i was so happy they were able to do that instead of stitches.

one more thing that i forgot to mention was that derek said when this first happened, kaia saw blood dripping down leia's face and she started screaming & crying, saying, "my baby, my baby...i don't want my baby sister to be hurt". she was so worried and every time i blotted the blood on the way to the hospital so it wouldn't drip, she kept telling me, "no, mama, don't touch it." she also didn't like it when the doctor was mending her wound either. she also said, "i don't think we should take leia back to that park ever again". she's such a good big sister (most of the time). :)
it doesn't bother her at all...in the pic, it looks like a little scratch above her left eyebrow).
yes...that's blood on her shirt! (she's so tough)
i'm sure it won't be our last trip to the E.R. (that was enough for me, though)

I already experienced a few of those but not with Kaia yet (fingers crossed) I am amazed that your husband didn't freak out! Paul would've been screaming and probably called 911 before calling me. :)
