Circus Day!
we took the girls to the circus for the 1st time last thursday & had fun for the most part...towards the end, kaia started saying, "this is really long mama" and started yawning. they loved the trapeze part of it the most, that was definitely their favorite...
we couldn't believe the price of the cotton candy...$12!!! crazy.
see...at the beginning they were so into it...
they didn't know where to look, there was so much going on!
leia's enjoying herself...
kaia was in her silly mood...
here's leia about 1/2 way through, getting sleepy...
lei lei loved the popcorn (but we don't let her eat the kernels yet, for choking reasons), so we had to disect each piece she ate :)
the tigers were so cute, for some reason i felt bad for them :(
leia was so funny...even though we were like 10 rows from the front, for a little while leia was more interested in watching the show from the lady's camcorder in front of us as she filmed...i guess she needed a change of scenery! :)
kaia's zoning out...
just like dumbo...
leia wasn't "feelin'" the hat...we had to sneak a pic! ;)

the $1,000 walk...
wanted:
yes, that's right...our treadmill "went capoot" this morning. i was getting ready for the circus & i hear the treadmill start & i thought, "oh good, derek's getting some use out of the treadmill too". then i thought i was hearing things, it started making sounds that i'd never heard it make when i run on it...but i just think to myself, "wow, maybe he's just really pushing it to it's limit (but he's only walking on it, that's strange)". about 10 minutes goes by and all of a sudden i hear a noise like the treadmill was actually screaming, "get off of me!" okay, i'm being a little dramatic, but it sure was a horriffic sound". then, nothing...silence. so, as i'm doing my hair, i call in to the other room, "ummmm, babe, what was that noise?" and derek tells me that he thinks he broke it. great!
i go in there so investigate & sure enough...it was too late, it even smelled like smoke. so, if anyone lives in SoCal and has a treadmill they don't use...i want it! (no, i'm not begging for it, we'll pay for it if it's cheap). in the meantime, i'll be treadmill window-shopping online.

home sweet home
we got the girls got a new doll house yesterday and they were playing with it this morning...boy do they have some good imaginations. some of the things i heard them saying as they played were pretty funny. one of the funniest things they did was when they got the idea to have barbie be part one of the "members of the doll house family". they came running out of their room saying, "mama, daddy...come look..."
so, we did & this is what we saw...barbie on the potty. hey, with all the potty training going on around here, i guess they think that even their dolls have to go too...
never a dull moment around here! :)

4 hours later...
we survived kaia's very long recital. no, this recital isn't a little hour long thing where you watch a few little kids as they perform 10 little dances & you're on your way. there was at least 50 dances and the ages ranged from 3 year olds up to kids that just graduated high school. it is a BIG ordeal, and it was fun watching her, but i'm (along with a lot of other family members) glad that it's over. anyways...i'm not complaining, but i'm just glad to be home in my jammies and my platforms happily put away in my closet (that i stood for most of the 4 hours in). thank you papa, nema, great grandma grace, uncle john, auntie kimmy & caleb for coming with us and supporting kaia...it meant a lot to her. love you guys!

leia was in charge of keeping an eye on kaia's trophee and thanks again for the rose great grandma "G".

our new favorite...
there's this kinda new frozen yogurt shop in town and it's a self serve yogurt place. anyways, it was SO great that we went after lunch and then auntie kimmy called us and said that she wants to go back after dinner...so, we did. the girls loved it because of the whole self-serve thing...they thought it was so fun! it tasted a lot like pink berry, but it had like a ton more flavors...yummy!
i know...we felt kinda cheesy taking pics...but, oh well. oh yeah, and i got my hair cut (i feel very "mom-ish").
thanks for meeting us there kim, john and caleb...it was fun hanging out for a little bit. :)

we'll suffer for fun...
we told the girls that we'd take them to a water park before the summer ended and we were kinda free today, so today was the day. we headed over to (Knotts Berry Farm) Soak City and it was pretty fun. for those of you who plan on taking your young kids...here are a few things i wish i had known before we went: 1. wait until at least one of your kids are at least 42 inches tall (kaia's like 41", but they're pretty strict about that apparently), cuz you can't really do anything except for the wave pool & the baby slides & the "lazy river" (which was closed today!!!). and...2. don't put your flip flops in the locker, WEAR them around the park...cuz', between the extremely HOT & very ROUGH cement, our feet were killing us (and still are). i'm not kidding, i have a pretty high pain tolerance and it felt like we were walking on hot coals with needles stabbing your feet (and, no...i'm not being dramatic). besides those factors...it was just great! (yes...if you're sensing a little sacrasm, you're right. ha, ha). anyways...i am glad we went, at least they loved the wave pool A LOT!

kaia's dance rehearsal...
the "real thing" is on saturday...5 more days til the recital!
about to practice their dance...
here's kaia & her sweet teacher, miss mariel. btw, she's gonna try out for "so you think you can dance next season"...so keep your eyes out for her. she's really good!
group pic...
go kaia! ;)
little sis' is giving her support...
leia can't wait to take dance...a few more months baby!
kaia's hip hop video...
by the way...the song's saying, "can i get those digit?" it kinda sounds like something bad...it's not.
a new acosta...
p.s.~check out their blog for more pics and to hear the awesome way they chose his name.

"better than eggos"
this morning the girls helped me make waffles...i know we've made them before, but i guess they forgot how they're made cuz they were amazed at the whole process. when i opened up the waffle-maker to see if they were done, kaia gasped as if i had just shown her a treasure chest full of gold (sorry, that was kinda weird...i'm tired). then...when they tasted them, kaia says, "let's have these every day, these are better than eggos!" it's really not a family recipe...just good 'ol Bisquick...
such a big help...
i'm definitely more of a baker/breakfast maker than a cook and the girls enjoy it!

BTW...just another potty training update (for those of you who are interested): leia slept in "undies" last night & woke up dry...she woke up with a dry diaper every morning last week, so we went for it and she did it! :)

hey...when you gotta go, you gotta go...
this is the best $2 we've spent in a long time (yea, that's all it cost...i told you i'm a bargain shopper)...where we go, the little potty goes. as soon as she says, "i'm (y)leaking"...we pull over and she goes about her business. it's great!

i just so happened to have my camera in the car with us...i'm a true blogger! :)

we've been busy!
yes...this is the pee-pee/poo-poo sticker chart leia started 1 week ago! like the title says...we've been busy. she loves the potty. trust me, i'm not complaining...i'm so thankful that she's making this easy (except for the fact that we're in the bathroom with her for hours a day). the only time we put a diaper on her is during the night and the last few days she's woken up with a completely dry diaper. anyways, this is one reason for not blogging lately. the other reason is this...
i got this book last week and started reading it friday morning and i was totally addicted & i'm not even a big reader. it was a great book and i couldn't put it down, not one page of it was boring. it's weird...i was so into it, it almost felt like i was watching a movie instead of reading. does that make sense? anyways, i finished it yesterday it i learned a lot through it.
i'm sure i'll be back to my usual 2 (minimum) posts again soon. :)

happy 4th!
i hope everyone had a great 4th of july! we had a great day with our friends, the collins'. here are a few pics of the girls in their red, white & blue before we left to go hang out with them...

jeremy's parent's pool was awesome...as you can see, it had a great waterslide...it felt like we escaped away to a really nice resort for the day! :)

then, we went to watch fireworks...after the first one, there was a slight delay...we had to wait for the firemen to put out 6 fires on the mountain before they could start up again. what excitement!
not all of us were ready for this pic...but at least we got a group shot
leia thought it was a little too loud at first...
looks like kaia has some competition...leia was SO into gavin tonight!

thanks again heather, jeremy, gavin & derek...we all had a great time and the girls are fast asleep! :)

this made me sad...
i know, i know...i said i wouldn't do another potty training post until she was completely potty trained, but i had to put a picture of leia in her big girl "undies" on here. we're still not gonna have her wear these for real until monday, but i had her try them on today and i'm just not used to seeing her buns in anything but diapers. she looks like such a big girl.
oh, and speaking of being a big girl...her new thing to say is "actually, no" or "actually, yes". like if she thinks she has to go potty, she'll run toward the bathroom screaming "i'm yeaking (leaking)!" she says that instead of saying "i have to pee or poop". then, she'll sit on the potty and if nothing happens after a couple of minutes, she'll say, "actually, no". what... actually! i guess i must say that a lot so she picked up on it, but she sounds so grown up.

i couldn't believe my eyes...
i'm back, we've been without internet since yesterday morning...that was a LONG day and a 1/2! anyways...
okay...for those of who who are "poop-aphobic" , DON'T scroll down to the 2nd picture. i had to do it! leia was on the potty this morning while i was drying my hair and she gets up and says "yook" (look), so i look down expecting to see nothing in the potty or pee and my eyes almost popped out of my head. she actually pooped in the potty...after only 2 days of getting the little potty out. i don't know if she meant to do it or what, but she did it. i really hope she's gonna continue to be this easy because starting on monday, we're gonna do the "stay-at-home-all-day-with-no-diaper-thing". i'm gonna get the little training panties out so she'll know if/when she has an accident and get the feel for it. wish us luck. sorry, for those of you who i just grossed out or bored to death. ;)
see, here is her little potty "station"...we got the little potty out (BTW...she is very proud to announce that it is her potty as she points to it pretty much every time she sits on it) "potty time" and "my big girl potty" books, her little stool in front of the sink so she can wash her hands (which she loves to do) and her stickers and sticker chart (1 sticker for pee and 2 for poop). as of tonight, she has 10 pee-pee stickers and 1 poop set of stickers...yay!
WARNING (scroll down at your own risk!):
i promise this will be the last of the potty training blog posts i'll do until she's totally potty trained (i think).
