Married with Children...

love and marriage, love and marriage....just kidding. that song was kinda going through my head last night as we were celebrating our anniversary a day late. as everyone with kids knows...plans change A LOT more than they used to. for our anniversary "PLAN A" was as follows: ACTUAL ANNIVERSARY DAY: let's go to dinner and a movie (sidenote: the first Spiderman came out the day before our wedding, so we kinda have a tradition of going to see Spiderman on our anniversary since they always come out right around that day). so anyways, that was the plan...go to El Torito and see Spiderman. well, that plan slowly changed when kaia starts saying "i wanta see Spiderman" (after seeing a preview for it)...since when do 3 year olds care about Spiderman??? so, we just looked at eachother and said, "well, we could take the girls with us to the movies today & then go drop off Kaia at Papa and Nema's house and then go to dinner after that. sounds good.
*THIS IS WHEN PLAN A QUICKLY BECAME A FAINT MEMORY*
"PLAN B" (what actually happened): STILL ACTUAL ANNIVERSARY DAY... we ALL go to the 4:15 showing of Spiderman, we found three seats about 7 or 8 rows from the front. not too bad & the movie starts. i thought, great, i'll just do the usual...just put leia on the boob & she'll be asleep in 5 minutes. that was until i forgot that she's teething. to make a long story short...she nursed the first 10 minutes and slept the last 10 minutes, the entire other 2 hours or so, she squirmed, protested, etc. and i was trying everything to get her to stay quiet in the completely full theater. i finally gave in...her and i quickly excused ourselves and i watched a lot of the movie from the long stretch of floor where you first walk in to the theater while she held my thumbs as she walked up and down the aisle (the area where we weren't disturbing anyone). that's her new favorite thing to do since she's very close to walking, she doesn't EVER want to stay still. hey, at least derek wasn't sitting alone...he still had kaia for his date. so the movie ends & we head over to papa and nema's house intending to still go out to dinner and i look at derek and suggest that we just grab something to eat real quick and just plan on going out on a real date the next day (saturday). i was SO exhausted from the 2 hour workout/movie and just wanted to chill. so that was PLAN B.
so saturday rolls around & yes, you guessed it...PLAN B starts to change. we thought more about it & we thought that since leia was gonna be joining us, it might be more relaxing if we just rented a couple of movies and ordered a pizza. great, sounds like a plan. okay, so kaia's over at papa and nema's, cool, so far everything's going as planned. then derek says it...hey babe, do you just want to make a pizza?" i was like "oh, no he didn't"..uh uh, we're going to rent movies and picking one up...NO cooking tonight. after all, we already changed our plans from going out, to ordering pizza, NO WAY are we gonna make one. so off we go. we arrive at the video store and agree on "Babel" & "Pursuit of Happiness" (for those of you who have seen Babel, that's a whole other post!). anyways, now we're off to pick up the pizza and driving home. derek's like, "could you hand me a piece of pizza, i'm starving?", then leia starts crying, so, here we are...derek's eating pizza in the car, i'm cranked around handing leia little pieces of cheese to get her to stop crying, so i'm like, "what the heck", i might as well have a piece now too". oh, i forgot to add, we were listening to 640 AM on the radio and there was this medical talk show on talking about medical maggots RIGHT as i was taking my first bite. i know, NOT at all romantic. finally, we arrive home & derek says, "oh, i totally forgot to call Don back (a friend from the place derek used to work), i'm gonna call him back real quick". next thing you know, derek's in the computer room on the phone with don eating another piece of pizza and leia and i are in the kitchen eating pizza together. finally, derek, leia and i are done eating and it's time to start the movie. of course, i had to take a potty break before the movie starts so i tell derek that i'll be right back and to put the movie in, so what do i see when i come back in the room??? BASKETABLL on the T.V. i'm like "babe!" he says "i was just waiting for you". "okay, fine...let's start the movie, kaia's gonna be home in 2 hours". at last, the movie started & after leia dozed off while nursing, the house was SO quiet with no noise except for the movie (not the most romantic choice of movies, but like i said earlier, that's an entirely different post).
i hope this didn't come across as bitter. we totally saw the humor in all of it (well, mabye not totally ALL of it at the time). it was definitely an interesting, unforgettable memory, that's for sure!

sorry, i should have told the whole world that Babel sucked. i thought maybe everyone heard me cursing it from the rooftops at the top of my voice, since i never ever see movies and the one time i watch one at home it totally sucks. the next morning i found it a little bit thought provoking in that everyone became closer to their family in the end, except the family in morocco.
