well...summer's more than 1/2 over and it's flying by. i think the summer's been busier than the "school year" was kinda (in a different way), but we've had a lot of fun.
the girls had vacation bible school this week...yes, leia too. she seems like such a big kid doing all these "big kid activities"...just imagine when she starts pre-school in september and after the baby comes, i know how much older she's gonna seem! i remember how much older kaia felt when leia was born...it's crazy. anyways...here are a few pics from today, the last day at VBS.
i know, you can't tell from the pic, but leia DID have a good time :) ha.
these pics were during their little performance they had today (kaia was too far away to get a good pic). :(
leia and her little friend, fiona...and then, one "sis shot" before we left...
Then...tonight we decided to take advantage of the great cooler weather and go to the drive-in movies. we've never taken the girls and they've been wanting to see G-Force. Oh, the things we do for our kids! i like some kid movies, but i have to say, this is NOT my type of kid movie! and try sitting in the back of an SUV for 1 1/2 hours with an almost 8 month pregnant belly. sacrifice! :) anyways...they're worth it.
sorry, i HAD to take this pic (poor leia). we made sure to bring the little porta potty (cuz the bathrooms at the drive in are gross) and look...she didn't even have to stop watching the movie when she peed! not bad.
it came out blurry (still haven't learned how to use our camera that well yet)...
btw...it is only me or, when you're at the drive-in, does anyone else have the urge to walk around singing songs from "Grease" and pretend to be Sandy? just wondering.

we survived!
okay, so...the girls had their recital on saturday and BOY, was it a dance-filled day! about 8 hours worth! leia's recital was at 10:00 & kaia's was at 2:00 (with a 30 minute break in between) & did i mention i was backstage with them the whole time. anyways...needless to say, i LOVED watching them, but i have to admit that i was kinda relieved when we were finally on our way home.
so, here's a little summary...like i said, leia went 1st & she had her ballet "number" first and she decided she didn't feel like dancing for that one...not ONE dance move the entire time! :) no, it wasn't stage fright, she wasn't scared, she didn't try to run off the stage. she just decided it was more interesting to watch all of her "fellow dancers" do the dance. so, that's what she did. she stood very still, in a cute little ballerina pose and looked the girl to her right, up & down for a while & then did the same to the girl on her left. i was cracking up, i couldn't help but think, "all of these dance lessons (AND she knows the dance) and this is what we get to watch." anyways, at her age no matter what she did, it woulda' been okay. she still looked cute and got a few chuckles from the audience. anyways...fast forward about 1 hour or so, it was time for her tap dance, and she was back to her old self...she did that dance pretty good.
then, it was kaia's turn. she did awesome! not only did she not have to look at her teacher (who's doing the dance off to the side backstage, in case any of them forget what comes next), but she did both of her dances with such confidence and looked SO happy up there on stage. maybe we have the next Shirley Temple on our hands! (j/k)
and, of course, the trophies! this was leia's first trophy and she carried that thing around looking so proud of herself! :)
kaia and leia...we are SO proud of both of you!

aloha kel...
so, kellie and the kids leave to go back to hawaii on monday :(, so we drove down to san diego to see them again before they leave. the time went too fast, but we had a good time chatting and the kids had fun playing together. i hope another year doesn't go by before we see you guys again!
another great way to stay cool...these fun parks with water spraying/squirty things!
i KNOW she's 3, but she still feels like a baby to me...poor thing, she was cold in the brisk 90* weather...she's gotten used to it being in the 100*'s. haha.
little 1 year old elijah is adorable...SO mellow!
and micah (leia's "boyfriend") & leia weren't having a particularly lovey-dovey day...the last time we saw them, they were all over eachother. today, they weren't as into eachother...maybe we need to move to hawaii so they "re kindle" their love for eachother! :)
love you guys!

my fault...
enough said... i told the girls they could play with their little make up set. i guess you could say they got a little carried away & i didn't get a pic of her, but 5 minutes after this pic was taken, kaia had the pink blush seriously ALL over her face. oh...having girls never leaves a dull moment. :)

texas fam...
my mom and niece were in california last week, so we took them to the beach on saturday (note to self: NEVER attempt the beach again on a saturday, in the summer when it's 100* inland!) it took us FOREVER to between traffic and find a parking spot, but we had fun once we got there.
here are a few pics...
almost 30 weeks along...
can't go wrong ending the day eating pizza with your cousin! :)

Leia's tap/ballet pics
just incase...
the girls have their dance recital next saturday (leia's 1st one and kaia's 3rd) & leia's dress rehearsal was this morning. anyways, we don't always get the best video during the recital, so here's one from today incase we don't get one at the real thing...enjoy!

more water...
we heard about this kids water park about a 1/2 hour away, so we found out the details and headed out there today. i thought it's been hot here...it was 107* there! anyways...i knew it was gonna be really hot there, so i made the girls wear their rash guards under their bikini's & when leia saw that i was putting hers on, she says, "no, i only wanna wear my bra (meaning her bikini top)!" so dramatic...as you can see from the pics, she didn't win that argument. rash guards are so much easier/ more functional than re-applying sunscreen all day long (even though the girls have never had a sunburn and they don't do anything but turn brown, i felt better just because it's SO hot there). oh, and you know me, the bargain shopper...it was so nice because it was only $6 per person and we were there 3 hours. how much better can it get...cheap AND fun! :)

28 week pre-natal appt.~
we had my 28 week pre-natal appt. yesterday and here's the latest...
~i've gained another 3 lbs. since my appt. last month (at 24 weeks) for a total of 18 lbs. so far.
~i got my Rhogam shot (since my blood type is Rh negative)...the girls were very excited to see mama get a shot & very glad that it wasn't them. i had to really act like it didn't hurt at all, since they were watching. ha.
~we heard the baby's heartbeat....awwww.
~she measured me and i'm still measuring a little small (26 cm.)
~i got another blood test (something to do with the Rhogam...i didn't really understand why?)
~and, we got our pre-admittance form turned in...so, we're ALL set!
Oh, and i just realized that i'm officially in my 3rd trimester (i'm a little slow these days!) :)
p.s.~i know this wasn't a very exciting post...it's really for me to look back at and for out-of-state family to stay updated.

thanks jessica!
my friend, jessica, asked me if she could use me as a model for some maternity pics. this was her first time doing maternity pics and mine too. anyways...she's only had her nice camera for a few months now & she's really good. don't you think? i don't mean "don't i look great"...i mean she did a great job with knowing which way to have me face considering where the sun/shadows are...etc. i felt cheesy the whole time, we were at a park by my house where people were kinda giving us looks (maybe that was in my head). i'm sure i flashed someone at least at one point when i was laying in the grass and we somehow managed not to fall down this hill with long grass on it, which was a kinda humerous experience. :) anyways...jessica, you're a pro!
7 months.
