okay, i don't usually start taking belly pics this early...usually i start around 3 months. but, i had to get record of this. i'm only four weeks along and look at that bump...this wasn't even here last week! and it was bigger last night, but i was too tired to get my lazy self off the couch to take a pic. at this rate, i'm gonna be one big, uncomfortable preggo lady by the summer. did i mention that the summer's here get up to 110* or so. oh boy!
at first, i told myself that it was okay to drink 1 diet coke a day while pregnant...not really because of the caffeine, but more so because of the artificial sugar. i had one at lunch yesterday and i decided that was gonna be my last one while i'm pregnant.
anyways...i'll miss you. maybe i'll see you again in a few months (actually, i've heard that after you go a while without drinking it, it's really gross when you finally have it again). oh well, i'm probably better off without drinking it period. do you guys drink diet or regular?

yes, i'm talking about those lines (as you'll see in the pic above if you look closely). i wasn't gonna blog about this yet, but then i thought it'd be neat to look back at if i blogged about it on the day we found out. so, yes, we're expecting baby #3 in early october (or, if he/she is early like the girls were, maybe late september). the plan was for me to take the test this morning (at a normal time), but then leia came crawling in bed with us at 2:30 in the morn. & i had to pee SOOO bad, so out came the "stick". after i did the deed, i set it on the bathroom counter so derek could come read the results and as i did i kinda glanced down at it and thought i mighta' seen 2 lines starting to appear, but then i thought my eyes were playing tricks on me. my heart started pounding. so, i lay back down (by that time, kaia had gotten into the bed with us too...yes, the entire family was awake and in bed together at 2:30 in the a.m.)...anyways, i tell derek, "babe, i know it's only been like 30 seconds, but i think i saw 2 lines already"...his eyes went from closed to opened real quick. :) so, after a couple more minutes, he goes in there to look at it, and i could tell by the look on his face that it was positive. crazy. even though we've been trying for a few months, that initial shock/surreal feeling hit us. anyways, we're all very excited and can't wait to meet this new little one. anyone want to take a guess as to what the baby's gender will be (i'm assuming we'll find out sometime in June)?
welcome baby Nicole Cristine! my sister, michelle, had their baby today at 1:55 p.m. (texas time) after being induced this morning (because she was past her due date). nicole was 6 lbs. 15 oz. and 21 inches long. i don't have any pictures of ashley and her new little sis' yet, but as soon as i get one e-mailed to me (ahem...hint, hint :), i'll post it. congratulations carlos, michelle & ashley. she's beautiful!

...we're gonna be able to see the snow this year (we planned on taking the girls up to oak glen last weekend cuz we heard that there was a ton of snow there last month, but then all of this summer weather started so the only way we were gonna see the real snow was to drive up to Big Bear). anyways, then we remembered that kaia's pre-school was gonna have snow today, so (as you saw from my last post) we opted for the beach last weekend. anyways, leia got to join in the fun too, when we picked kaia up and they both loved it! :) 
it's like 77* outside today, i was telling kim that they coulda' worn shorts to play in the snow today. silly.
yes, it's winter and no, we're not playing in the snow (like we originally planned for this weekend), we decided to take our bog, bubba (a.k.a. buckley named after jeff buckley) to Dog Beach in Huntington Beach because we heard that it was gonna be in the 80*'s today. we were kinda leery about taking him for a car ride because he used to get car sick, back when we first got married and he was still a puppy. we're very happy to say that he didn't barf once today. whew!
he started out in the back of the SUV where he was supposed to stay, but about 1/2 way there he decided that he wanted to join the girls in the 2nd row...well, he started drooling all over the car seats so i told him to get back in the back and he got stuck backwards (he is very wide)...so, he rode most of the last 30 minutes facing backwards (as you will see below). i think that might have actually helped with his queasiness. haha.
the girls LOVE their dog...
kaia got this bikini for Christmas (remember, the one i bragged about getting from Old Navy for like $2?)...i didn't think it was gonna be worn so soon.
leia made a friend...this adorable little puppy was following her around more the whole time. so cute!
bubba is so sweet, he is NOT a water dog, but every time the girls went near the water, he was right beside them being their bodyguard.

here's a quick funny story (at bubba's expense :)...we were taking a walk down the beach & i was walking right next to bubba and i overheard a man say to his wife, "look she's pregnant, right?" so, i look to see who they're talking about and they're looking at bubba (our BOY dog!). poor 'ol boy, i guess we need to put him on a diet & take him on walks more...how humiliated he must've been! :)
does this picture look like we're in mid winter? as you can see, kaia and leia are wearing summer clothes and it's almost 80 degrees outside. what's the weather like where you live?
the girls said both of these funny things on the way home from picking kaia up from school today (each of them said one). let me preface the first one with this...(i might be embarrassed later that i admitted this...probably not). okay, here's my confession...we have a little potty in the car that we put there for emergencies just incase kaia or leia have to go potty and we're not anywhere near one. well, i have to say that i've been getting use out of it than them lately. i have a really small bladder, and one day a few weeks ago i thought i was gonna pee in my pants cuz we were nowhere near a potty, so it was either gonna "borrow" their potty or things weren't gonna be pretty. so, that brings us to today...we went to target and while we were in line to pay, i started to have the "i have to pee" feeling, so i thought "we're leaving so i can hold it until we get home" (forgetting that i told the girls that we'd pick up a pizza on the way home). so, i got the girls in their carseats & climb to the back of the car (thankfully, we have a SUV with a third row) and tell the girls, "i'm sorry i'm doing this again, but i really have to pee". the next thing i hear is, kaia say, "hey, mama you pee a lot and daddy poops a lot!!!" she was so proud of herself that she came to that conclusion! (sorry, babe)...i didn't clear this with derek first...oops. :)then, we pick up the pizza and leia wanted to eat a piece while we drove home, so i was getting her one & then i ask kaia if she wants one and she says "no"...then, leia tells her, "but, remember you wanted a piece "yester-time" (she says that instead of "yesterday" or "the other time" & i think it's adorable).okay, please after reading that "confession"...can we still be friends? ;)
kaia loved watching her lil' sis dance...
leia had her first dance class today...i know, she's barely over 2 1/2, but she's been asking to go to dance for months now. i think seeing kaia take dance really made her want to do it too. so, i told her after the holidays are over, we'll take her to try a class out. she was so excited...she wore this leotard and tights all day, even to pick kaia up from school. awwww, my baby.
i made her put some pants on over her dance outfit cuz it was kinda nippy outside...she didn't like that idea much...here she is with her dance bag all ready to go...
when she walked into the class, she walked right over to the bars and looked at herself in the mirror...so cute.
this was what she did the first 5 minutes or so...she just wanted to check out the other kids in the class. she observed for a little while...looking at the girl to her right, up and down & then to her left. then, she just joined in doing everything the teacher and the other kids did...she was a natural. :)
she warmed up to the idea real quick!

every now and then, she'd look our way to make sure we were watching :)
and, of course she got 2 stamps at the end of class because she listened to the teacher so well.when we got back in the car, i asked her if she had fun and she said, "yeah, i want to do it again". so, i told her we'll go back next week and she said, "i wanna do "bah-yay" (ballet)".my little ballerina girl...we love you.
today, the girls and i were driving home from lunch, the girls were in their car seats and leia was "reading" a Cinderella book. i looked back at her to see her very intense eyes as she was studying whatever she was looking at on the page...then, she says, "mama, i want to go in this book so i can ride a horsey". it was so cute because she really meant it, she wasn't trying to be funny at all. i could just see the wheels in her head turning and how badly she wished she could jump into that book. my sweet little princess. :(
i'm about to go to bed...we just got home from that New Years Eve party...and of course, kaia and leia stayed up until midnight...they're rockstars :). anyways, i'm tired and delirious but i wanted to tell everyone Happy New Years. what did y'all do?
