oh boy...it was one of those nights where family night didn't go so smoothly (more on that later). anyways, we did circus night tonight...i copied jacinda (they did this one last week), but it looks like they "pulled it off" a little better. enjoy the pics...
we started off by making pizza's that were supposed to kinda look like clowns...
as you can see...it didn't really work (we tried to use pieces of pepperoni to make the eyes, nose & mouth...nope! (we should have gotten olives and peppers like they did)...oh well.
then, we all took turns making silly (embarrassing) faces...that we'll probably wish we had thought twice about before putting them on the blog :)
my turn...
then, came the face painting...i think that's the only part of the night that went "as planned". everything went down hill after this. leia wanted to take a picture, so we let her & then kaia wanted to, so leia took off running with the camera and threw it in the kitchen sink (into a bowl with a little water in it), so kaia couldn't get it. long story short...after a few minutes, it worked again. arrrrggghh.
then, kaia put on her one-girl-show, a little acrobatic act...
we finished off the night with some "balloon cupcakes"...
and one more silly face!
did i mention that i think i might change our family night to one a month instead of once a week...i'm running out of ideas. is that lame?

6 things...
i got tagged by heather... 6 things that make me happy:
1.~the feeling i get after i'm done with my morning run and knowing that i won't be running again for a couple of days (and then laying on my chaise lounge after a shower with a towel on my head, with my coffee cup of raisin bran watching Regis & Kelly...that rarely happens). can you tell i love running (she said sarcastically :).
2.~taking the girls to the beach on a hot day to escape the "inland weather" or just in time for a sunset.
3.~going on vacation...anywhere. preferably a place with a beach.
4.~being with friends and family...preferably eating (and finishing off the meal with something sweet)!
5.~shopping and getting a good deal.
6.~interior design kinda stuff around the house (or at least my version of it).
p.s.~i know i'll think of a million more things i should have put...but these are just a few. if anyone else wants to do this...i'd love to read yours and get to know you better. so, if you do it, please leave a comment.

back to reading...
my friend, kellie (that i miss a lot!!) recommended this book the other day...so, after storytime with leia today, i checked it out. one of Francine River's other books that i read, Redeeming Love, was wonderful and i really like her style of writing. i'm only on page 10 of this book & i'm already hooked. anyways...i'm off to go read now. has anyone else read this, and if so did you like it?

family night #8: "Halloween"...
okay...so, we weren't gonna do our "dress up" family night until next week since Halloween's next week, but to be honest i'm starting to run out of ideas (without having to go to the store and spending a lot of $...we try to use what we have most of the time). so, we did the Halloween one tonight!
for dinner, we had "friendly ghost" burritos (we don't like scary ones :)...
then, for dessert we had ice cream sand-"witches"...get it (hey, i said i was running out if ideas!)
the girls liked those!
then, they put on their costumes...
leia's sprinkling us with her Pixie Dust!
and look at that wonder woman...she means business!
and, kaia was in a "mood" tonight, so i thought i'd throw one of the "not so happy" pics in...just keeping it real. ;)

just one of the big kids...
i just love this picture...we went to brantley's (a little boy from kaia's class) Pirate birthday party yesterday and leia was one of the only little siblings that went and she could care less. she has NO idea that everyone else is bigger than her. she just sat her little self down right in the middle of the crowd to watch the "pirate" they hired to entertain the kids. and i love how she's sitting indian style (or, criss cross applesauce as she likes to call it :).

pumpkins in the o.c.
we realized that halloween was only a couple of weeks away, so we better get over to the pumpkin patch. so, we headed over to a great one in irvine. we went to this same one last year and loved it. all i have to say is...they have horses & ponies! that's all we had to say to the girls and we HAD to go to this one...
here we were waiting in line for the horses for kaia and the ponies for leia...
here's kaia getting all saddled up :)
she loved it when the horse trotted!
they were in the BEST mood (and i used the horses as bribes all morning...for example, when kaia was whining about playing soccer this morning, i just kept reminding her that after the game we're going to the pumpkin patch to ride horses and every time they didn't listen, we'd threaten that if they don't listen, they couldn't ride horses...it really worked)...maybe we need to get a horse for a pet ;)
leia HAD to bring her puppy...every time we said, "leia, do you want to ride the horses"...she said, "yeah, with my doggy". so cute.
it's almost leia's turn!
kaia was excited to watch leia ride the ponies too...
she couldn't stop smiling!
she made sure her puppy was safe...she said, "i'm a good mama".
then, we kinda got a family pic with the pumpkins...
leia loved picking up the pumpkins...
i love it when they get along...
we had to get the girls cotton candy...i'll never forget, last year when they were eating it kaia said something like, "am i eating hair?" she's so funny.
then, it was time for a hayride...
leia loves her big sis...
last but not least, we took the girls on a paddle boat ride. this was a first for them, and it was NOT easy peddling the peddles with kids on our laps, but it was a lot of fun (and a workout!)
whew!
i'm sure we'll be back next year!
