Happy Birthday Max!

our friends, the pollard's older son, max...turned 3 today, so we drove down to see them & celebrate his b-day with them (BTW, kristen...i lied, it took us more like 45 minutes to get home...still not bad!). we had a great time hanging out...i know we say it all the time, but we seriously HAVE to hang out again soon! :)

Tonight derek and i went on a double date with our friends, heather & jeremy. it was "kid-free" & it was so nice actually having conversations without being interrupted. we went to the Yard House and it was yummy. i felt kinda silly, but i asked the waiter to take a pic of us since we didn't have any pictures together, so here it is! :)
after our date, we stopped by Kaiser to see kim and john, here are a couple of pictures i took tonight while we were there. for an update on their situation and to see a video they took, click on the link to their blog. if you know what you're looking at you can see a small contraction on the bottom line below...

loved it!

derek and i went to see "Juno" on Saturday. i heard so many great reviews about it, but reviews don't mean a lot to me cuz everyone has a different opinion & i usually have to just go see a movie for myself if i think it looks good. so we went, and it was so good. for so many different reasons, i don't want to spoil it for anyone who wants to see it & hasn't yet...but, go, cuz it's great!
p.s.~i'll just say this...if a movie makes you cry, it usually means it's a good one & this one did.

this is what i saw this morning after leia had been in her high chair for a few minutes...a 1/3 eaten eggo and she was out! it scared when i first saw her with her head on the table, but after i saw that she was breathing just fine...i had to go get the camera! poor baby. :)

the guy you see above is our friend, Jon Tsui. we've known his ever since we lived up in San Luis Obsipo. he is a great guy and we wanna hook him up with a great girl. here are some facts about him:

guess i can't complain

i know...i'm really slackin' lately on my blogging. i just haven't gotten back into it since having a 2 week "blog break" during our holiday vacation. i have to admit, it was kinda nice to have a break from the computer (and we even brought our new Christmas gift to eachother...our new Mac, with us to Texas), i guess i was just really busy with Christmas stuffand helping my sister with wedding stuff.

anyways, i couldn't resist posting this pic of leia i took today. i was starting to make dinner and i heard the girls' bathroom door open so i just assumed that kaia was going potty. i hear the water turn on in the bathroom, so i peek into the living room to see kaia on the couch. "uh oh", i thought...what's leia up to? so i walk in to see this...
how can you get upset at a 19 month old that's busy brushing her teeth? i liked it better when she didn't know how to open doors! :)

major blonde moment!

i got a few highlights a few weeks ago so my hair would look like i did something to help it look nice for my sisters wedding...i think the bleach soaked in a little too much. today i had a really ditzy thing happen. we wake up around 7:45, which is sleeping in around our house (not by choice, i would sleep until 9:00 every day if my girls let me & if kaia didn't have pre-school that starts at 9:00). i proceed to make the girls some breakfast, look at the clock...see that it's a little after 8:00 (1 hour away from when kaia's pre-school starts). this is when something got mis-calculated in my head...i think, "wow, we have SO much time before we have to leave". i start putting their new toy box together, slowly get myself ready for the day, go in the girls' room with them to get their clothes ready...etc. we leave the house at 9:30... (for some weird reason i still think it's 8:30, with a lot of time to spare). i drive nice and slow toward her school, by the time we get close we're still 15 minutes "early", so we take a drive down memory lane past our old house that is 2 blocks from the school...still being 10 minutes early (i thought)...i absent-mindly look at the clock and (kinda see that it's 9:50 and think, "i'll call my mom and sister since we have some spare time...if it's almost 10:00 here, it's almost 12:00 san antonio time. great, i might be able to catch them on their lunch breaks). i call my mom. no answer, so i begin to leave her a voice mail..."hi mom, i thought i'd give you a call since it's almost 10:00 here, i thought i'd..............WHAT, it's almost 10:00 here!!!) call me later, bye.
yes, kaia was an hour late to school, which isn't a big deal...but, i couldn't believe what a ditz i felt like. please tell me someone else has done something like that before!!!
