Leia's turn...

Swimming lessons part #2:

kick, kick, kick...
she is SUCH a water baby!

she even liked going under...i could see her smiling under water :)

she'll be swimming soon...

today was kaia's first swim lesson of the summer and she did not want to go. we had her in a private lesson last summer and she cried every day cuz the water was cold and there weren't any other kids there. so anyways, she was so ready to not want to do it...the second we got there she was saying, "mama, stay with me". then, she saw other kids and when i sat her on the side of the pool and her feet went in the water, she realized that the pool was heated. that was it...she had a great time (except for the first time they asked her to put her face in the water and open her eyes)...but she did better than i thought and after the first time, she even liked doing it.

so far, so good! (derek and i thought that this was gonna be the "before" picture, but there weren't any sad, crying "after" pics to take.

(sidenote: see, that's what happens when i try to put a clever blog entry title...it sounds cheesy)

anyways...auntie kimmy and uncle john came with us to the san diego wild animal park today and there were quite a few funny moments.



funny moment #1: kaia saw the gorillas and says, "look, uncle john...the corolla's" (instead of gorillas). i guess since derek used to drive a corolla she had that in her head. it was pretty funny.
leia loved the foot massagers, they tickled her feet :)

and of course...it wouldn't be a day at the animal park without kaia in tears (all because she wanted a smoothie and we told her she had to wait until we got to jamba juice). poor kaia!
something else that happened that we didn't get a picture of was when kaia tripped and fell while we were walking down the hill to see the lions and she hurt her knee and her hand so i kissed her owies to make them feel better and through her tears, she wailed,"no mama, that doesn't help". poor baby, i was wondering when she was gonna catch on to that one...that was a first!

"killing time" is fun...

we went down to san diego today with derek so he could finish up a song he's recording at a friend's studio. here's what they came up with - a pre-mix version of "sweeter than this" So the girls and i decided to go down with him and kill time while he was recording. we went to the beach and to fashion valley mall (one of my favorite malls, cuz it's outdoors) & the time went by really fast. anyways, here are a few pics from the beach...
we forgot the sand toys, but the girls still had a lot of fun, the weather was extra beautiful!
leia was very entertained by the sand too...

well, we can almost officially say that leia's walking...if 5 or 6 steps at a time count. oh, and the tongue sticking out really helps her balance!!! :)

Leia's First Steps!

a first

okay, i've been to disneyland without derek before when kaia was the only child but today was the first time to try it with both of the girls. yea, i was there with a couple of friends, but it's just not the same as going with your spouse. we had a lot of fun but it was A LOT of work... i can't remember the last time i was this tired...i'm literally looking at the floor right now thinking that it looks pretty comfortable and that i could sleep there all night right now...not kidding!

4 more days!!!

some of our best friends...kellie, jesse and their baby, micah are moving to Hawaii on wednesday & i can't believe the day is almost here. kellie & i found out we were pregnant the same day (me, with leia and kellie with micah) & we had almost the exact same due date. we got to experience our entire pregnancies together, it was wonderful and & now leia has a "boyfriend" :).
anyways, today we drove down to see them before they leave and i'm sad. we love you guys & can't wait to see ya'll in august.
